“The American Dream shouldn’t come with an annual bill”—Chlebek says it’s time to end the tax that never ends.

PARK RIDGE, ILL – August 19, 2025 – Casey Chlebek, who is seeking the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate in Illinois, is voicing strong support for President Trump’s Big Beautiful Bill and its proposed expansion of the State and Local Tax (SALT) deduction—from $10,000 to $40,000—calling it a vital first step toward meaningful homeowner relief. But Chlebek says it’s time to go even further.
As part of his signature MAGNA Agenda (to Make America the Greatest Nation Again), Chlebek is unveiling a bold plan to fully eliminate property taxes for working families—beginning with those hit hardest: seniors, veterans, and first-time homeowners.
“President Trump’s leadership on SALT reform shows he understands the urgent burden families face,” said Chlebek. “I’m proud to support this first step—and to build on it with a bold, constitutional plan that protects homeowners and preserves essential services.”
Outlined in the August edition of his newsletter Straight Talk with Casey, Chlebek’s Property Tax Freedom Plan introduces a practical roadmap to phase out property taxes while maintaining local funding through federal tools and voluntary state partnerships.
Key elements of the plan include:
A $3,500 annual federal relief credit for seniors, veterans, disabled citizens, and first-time homeowners.
A Homestead Reimbursement Fund to help states eliminate property taxes without reducing funding for education, police, or fire services.
Targeted SALT reforms that extend relief to middle-class families while capping deductions for luxury properties and investment real estate.
A Homestead Starter Credit to help young families achieve first-time homeownership.
A bipartisan national commission to study international alternatives to property tax dependency.
“This isn’t about replacing one tax with another—it’s about restoring dignity and financial freedom,” Chlebek added. “With the MAGNA Agenda, we can keep millions of families in their homes, lower barriers to ownership, and strengthen our communities.”
A business leader and longtime public policy advocate, Chlebek has made bold tax reform a cornerstone of his campaign. The Property Tax Freedom Plan is the first of seven pillars in his MAGNA Agenda to reduce taxes, reward work, and restore opportunity.
